What is Faith? Noah had it

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen.”
Hebrews 11:1 New Living Translation (NLT) Tyndale

The Prodigal Son’s father had faith. The dad was ready and waiting when his son came home; he trusted God to bring the young man back safely. “…And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20 (NLT)

Joseph, too, had the God Kind of Faith. Joseph was imprisoned in Egypt for years, having committed no crime! Yet, he did not stop believing that God cared and had a glorious future planned for him. Though still a prisoner, Joseph was willing to interpret Pharaoh’s dream and to give God the glory for it: “It is beyond my power to do this. But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.” Genesis 41:16 (NLT) Joseph held onto his faith despite his difficulties. Soon, God made him ruler over all of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh!

What is faith? Here’s my definition of God-Faith, mountain-moving faith:
Faith is believing, faith is knowing, that God is alive and ready to help me in every way I need. God has never failed me yet, and he never will. God is the best father and parent any child has ever had.

Paul wrote: “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)

Noah's faith paid off: “It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before.” Hebrews 11:7 (NLT)

Someone once said, “Faith is actually stepping out onto that tightrope you said was strong enough to hold you.”

I won’t get into any old leaky boat to go white water rafting! However, I’ll step on board God’s Ark for this ride through life. It's a sturdy ship and will take me where I need to go.

A good and loving Father cares about what’s happening to me. He is standing by the window, watching for my return from a far country. He's willing to give me everything for my inheritance. “Everything I have is yours!” --the father told his son. Luke 15:31 (NLT)

God is always speaking loving words to me. All I need to do is listen. Then, I need to act like I’ve heard. I’ll save my life and the lives of those I love.

God says, “Today, please listen. Don’t turn a deaf ear….” Hebrews 3:7,8; Hebrews 3:15 The Message NavPress

Today, Lord, I am listening. Please help me act on what you’ve told me. In faith, I know you’re here right now, lovingly giving me everything I need. I love you.

“God’s now at my side…God’s my strong champion…” Psalm 118 The Message

My friend, God is ready and willing to hear you today and to answer your prayer. He offers you a safe place and everything else you need. Believe it!
